The goal of research in the Intelligent Systems Division's Collaborative and Assistant Systems (CAS) technical area is to design new information technologies to facilitate the process by which NASA engineers, scientists, and mission personnel collaborate and manage information in their unique work settings. The reasearch activities in this area focus on applying information/data/knowledge management techniques, artificial intelligence methods, and computer-supported cooperative systems methodologies that result in systems that are more usable, that augment the human cognition, and that facilitate the specialized work of distributed teams in NASA mission settings. For the ROSES solicitation there are many opportunities for collaboration between CAS researcher and space/earth scientists, including work on scientific data management, data integration, decision support, science mission management, and remote collaborative science.
